We are a married couple in our late 20’s from Birmingham, Alabama, but we have spent the last 5 years living in Nashville, Tennessee. Exploring new places together is one of our favorite shared hobbies, and in our eleven years together we have taken whatever opportunities we could find to travel. We are afraid that we will never be able to see all that we want to see in the typical 2-3 weeks of vacation time per year that most Americans get, so before we settle down and have kids, we are taking the opportunity to leave our jobs and explore the world.
I graduated from law school in 2014 and have worked for the last year and a half in child welfare/juvenile law. I have always loved history, politics, and learning about other languages and cultures. I majored in International Relations in college and absolutely loved it. At various times I have studied French, Chinese, and Italian, but the only one I can really carry on a conversation in is French. I love cooking and trying new types of food. I like taking photos and would love to actually learn how to do it well while we are traveling. I am a verbal processor, and I like to journal so I will be the primary writer here on the blog.
Matthew is a software developer (primarily an iOS developer) who has spent the last 3 years working as the head of mobile product for a travel company. He is interested in design, and before he got into programming he considered being an architect. He is passionate about good coffee, both making it and drinking it. And yes, he will be bringing his own coffee-making equipment on our journey. He is constantly dreaming up new ideas for apps, and he’s excited that this time off of work while we travel will finally give him an opportunity to bring some of these ideas to life.
